With regards to design production, other examples are that materials like paper etc. which are perceived as unusual or very exclusive in Europe can be the most affordable or the most common material in Asia. Printing effects like embossing, foiling or screen printing are costly and rather rare in Europe, whilst in several Asian countries they may be a cheaper (but beautiful) alternative to four colour printing. The choice of media or materials again influences how a brand is perceived across cultures. Whilst four colour printing for low quantities is the most costly production solution in Asian countries, many Europeans constantly find their letterboxes flooded with cheap four colour printed media. It’s true that the medium is the message, but the message must be delivered to the right audience in the right language.
